DID STROKE TAKE AWAY WHO I AM?
I was talking to a sister about how she feels stroke made her lose her identity. So I thought I'd write a Blog about it.
My point of view.
Stroke doesn't take away who you are but rather strips the person of those external things that we thought made us who we are!
Our job, Our abilities, things we were able to physically do. We believed those made up who we are.
But just as Gold is refined and made pure by fire, removing all impurities that are not gold so also stroke does to a person.
It's not that stroke took away who you were, it, like refining gold took away the impurities those things you held on to that you thought were your identity but were not!
Stroke has striped your life down to the very core of the person you are.
What you're left with after stroke is a pure person who now needs to be rebuilt a new.
You have been given a second chance most people on this planet never get!
To live 2 lives in 1.
You have a very rare opportunity to rebuilt who you are better than you were before!
You now must rebuild from the very core of the person you now are.
You feel you lost your identity when you really didn't. You've just been stripped of those meaningless things in your life that were of no character value.
So now stroke survivors use this opportunity you've been given to find your core as a person (the foundation if you will) and begin to rebuild who you are with high end quality character building materials!
There is hope! You've been given a second chance at life on this planet!

CHAPTER 1
MY WALK OF DESTINY STORY
WHO I AM NOW
As I begin to write my thoughts down, I can only aspire to be like the many gifted and enlightened guests I watch on Super Soul Sunday. I would have to say Oprah Winfrey and her amazing guests have inspired me like no other, to be true to my spiritual walk of destiny that my life has taken through stroke survival. For one of many spiritual truths on Super Soul Sundays I whole heatedly believe and am now learning is “Bad things happen for you not to you" puts a whole new awakening to the truth for stroke survivors around the world.
Hi I thought you may want to know who I am.
Currently Age: 52.
Born September 1st 1963.
Age 47 when I had a major aneurysm and two weeks later had a major stroke.
September 17th 2010. The day the course of my life changed forever!
Deficits: Can’t walk, Dysarthria, Balance issue.
Married 22+ years to one of the most awesome and amazing women on the planet! Rebecca Avila.

How I truly feel:
I was the type of guy that could do about anything I set my mind to. Cutting down a 80’ tree….no problem! Designing a water or rain harvesting system…..no problem! Running a crew building a 100,000 gallon water storage tank…………..no problem! Running and owning my own companies National Storage Tank and Rain Harvesting Solutions Inc. for over 12 years BS (Before Stroke) done!
Then on September 17th 2010 as fast as lightning strikes, the course of my life would change forever! My true destiny was about to be revealed to me. You see, my divine destiny was to be a stroke survivor. It’s who I am now.
I was doing the day to day grind and I truly believe there was only one thing that would stop me dead in my tracks! A stroke and near death experience! Now, like most, I had no clue what stroke was.
This cataclysmic life event, forced me to fully re-evaluate all the things I, like most everyone, took for granted! Life itself, walking, talking, feeling one with my body, family, friends but I truly believe that I’ve been given a SECOND CHANCE!
I would come to believe wholeheartedly that this was a type of gift! Yes this stroke is the hardest thing I would ever face!!! But I was alive! Given a gift that the majority of people on this planet don’t have! The chance to live two lives in this one! A second chance to learn not to take it all for granted!
In beginning part of me was so angry, suicidal, and felt ripped off but what I have learned since my stroke makes it all worth it! I should have a big sign on my forehead…….Under Major Reconstruction! I’m far from learning it all!
I would have to say and know with all my heart that if it was not for my incredible family and friends and their support I’d be in a much different place!
Tears of thankfulness run down my face! Go stroke survivors!

Cyber terrorists just hijacked my new My Walk Of Destiny Blog! Please stand by as I freak out and as a stroke survivor I learn to repair!
FEELS LIKE MIRROR THERAPY TO MY BRAIN
As you may know I am a wheelchair bound stroke survivor since September 17th 2010.
So I go to the floor to stretch and meditate almost every day.
So I'm laying on my back intertwine my fingers and control my effected arm and visualize my my effected arm moving the same way as my non effected arm.
I slowly touch the top of my head and raise and lower down the center of my body.
I notice my brain is watching my effected side move in unison with my right.
Mmmm maybe something?

More fulfilled as a person on this planet than I've ever been before!
A gratefulness for my life on this planet that is to the very core of who I am as a man!
A love and appreciation for my wife and son that I never thought possible!
Enlightened about the very truth of life and so so much more!

A STROKE SURVIVORS TAKE ON THE CONFEDERATE FLAG ISSUE
I normally would not give you my stroke survivor view on political subjects, but what the hay, I'm on Vaca.
There is a group of blind, ignorant people out there that stand on the non racial origin of the Confederate Flag.
True! But it's decades later and now (2016) the Confederate Flag means only one thing! Hate! Racial hate! Don't sit there and tell me how noble the flipping Confederate Flag is! I'm a stroke survivor not stupid!
The Confederate Flag should have no place in our modern civilization!

They were in a dark and lonely place before I was given this gift of love for them.

So come Father's Day last Sunday I'm on an unplugged from Facebook vacation until July 1st,
Spiritually and physically needed it!
Father's Day was off the hook awesome! Day 2 is going awesome! I'm loving it!
Now I'm a wheelchair bound 1/2 paralyzed stroke survivor with no finances, so needles to say it's been a staycation.
IT'S BEEN AMAZING! SPIRITUALLY AND PHYSICALLY!
